OFF-ROAD TRAINING
You may not want to admit it, but it may be sensible to sharpen up your skills of some terrain which is not as forgiving as tarmac.
As each tour is over several weeks at least - many riders feel the benefit of brushing up on off-road skills, as well as taking the opportunity to meet a few of the WMT staff and other riders who they may be on the next big trip with.
How to handle and manoeuvre your bike in less than ideal conditions can be invaluable on trips in foreign countries, and can mitigate many of the niggling problems which you wont want to worry about when away from the UK.
Using an experienced off-road guide we focus on building up confidence and experience:
- balancing the bike at slow speeds
- lifting and moving your bike from difficult situations
- approaching and navigating different terrain, such as hills, sharp decents etc
- riding on different surfaces, such as gravel, sand and dirt
- riding ruts
- speed control techniques on difficult surfaces
- suspension techniques
Approaching a trip, we will run one or two courses - depending on what terrain we will face.
